強度の高い雨傘です。傘の心臓と呼ばれる天井(上部)は一般の傘と比べて多めに和紙を重ねて張り、軒には蜘蛛糸と呼ばれる補強の糸を施してあります。使用している和紙の厚さ、重ねの関係により細く閉まらず、ぽってりとするため「ためかけ」といわれる作業を強めにかけてあります。この「ためかけ」により、和傘の広がりをできるだけおさえてあります。内側には鮮やかな糸で千鳥がけを施し、補強とデザインを兼ねつつ和傘をさしている時にその美しさを楽しめます。Amagasa (Umbrella) Wagasa for a rainy day. The eaves are covered with a reinforcing thread called Kumoito, which means spider silk in Japanese. Due to the thickness of the washi used, the umbrella does not close thinly, but rather flattens out.
